NEWS ニュース 202505.26 Individual differences in brain activity during watching disaster prevention videos: Disaster awareness and educational effects (Conference oral presentation) Posted in Presentation Video is an important tool for disaster education. How are individual differences in disaster awareness and educational effectiveness reflected in brain activity during video viewing? We identified a positive correlation between brain activity and disaster awareness in the medial frontal lobe and a negative correlation between brain activity and educational effects in the sensorimotor cortex during viewing of a video recommending tsunami evacuation. These fMRI studies by Masato Takubo, student of Medicine, were presented at the 2025 Congress of the Japan Geoscience Union, and their potential application to the development of an objective index of disaster awareness and effective disaster education videos was discussed.
