202509.07 The Psychological Processes and Neural Basis of Hesitation in Tsunami Evacuation: An fMRI Study (Poster Presentation) Posted in Presentation

Previous research had revealed that emotion regulation characteristics contribute to immediate tsunami evacuation. However, it remained unclear how these emotion regulation characteristics contribute to immediate tsunami evacuation, why they enable “immediate” evacuation decision-making, and what brain activity underlies this process.

This time, Takubo Masato, student School of Medicine presented a poster at the 89th Annual Convention of the Japanese Psychological Association, held at Tohoku Gakuin University's Itsutsubashi Campus, regarding the results of an fMRI experiment conducted using a tsunami evacuation simulation task developed in our laboratory.

More attendees than anticipated visited our poster, enabling lively discussions. The insights and questions raised by researchers in safety psychology and disaster-related fields were highly instructive, deepening our substantive discussions. We will continue our efforts toward further analysis and publication of this research. (Sugiura)
