202511.02 Brain research that determines the success or failure of tsunami evacuation mapped onto a map (presented at a joint research conference) Posted in Presentation

When a tsunami strikes following an earthquake, where and how should we make decisions to ensure our survival? In a joint research project with GIS (Geographic Information System) experts Professor Yuichi Hashimoto (Hokkaido University) and Lecturer Daisuke Shiozaki (Seisa Dohto University), we developed an experimental system that uses MRI to measure brain activity during virtual tsunami evacuation scenarios. This system maps the brain activity and differences between those who successfully escaped and those who did not onto a map. We presented our findings at the 34th Annual Conference of the Japanese Society for Geographic Information Systems (Toyama City). Please look forward to the full-scale application of this research in the future. (Sugiura)
