202503.31 How emotional control contributes to immediate tsunami evacuation; an fMRI study(international academic conference, poster presentation) Posted in Presentation

Previous studies have found that emotional control characteristics contribute to immediate tsunami evacuation. However, it has not been clarified how these emotional control characteristics contribute to immediate tsunami evacuation, why they can contribute to “immediate” evacuation decision making, and what kind of brain activity is responsible for this.

Masato Takubo, student of School of Medicine presented a poster at the Cognitive Neuroscience Society 2025 Annual meeting in Boston on the results of fMRI experiments using a tsunami evacuation simulation task developed in our laboratory. We had a lot of questions from people from earthquake-prone countries such as Taiwan and New Zealand, as well as from people in the U.S. who had never heard of the Great East Japan Earthquake.
