Date and Time: August 8th (Friday), 15:00-17:00 Format: Hybrid (Institute of Development, Aging and Cancer, Building SA, 3rd Floor, Human Brain Science + Zoom) Presentations: Teacher Marie (CEO, Creative Empowerment Inc.) "The Practice and Potential of Creativity Education Based on the Reggio Emilia Approach: The Impact of Creative Self-Expression in Early Childhood on Intrinsic Motivation" Through extensive experience working with children in educational and childcare settings, I have come to realize the importance of creativity education centered on the Reggio Emilia Approach and art. I aim to develop and implement educational programs that foster intrinsic motivation and self-efficacy by creating a process where children think, express, and communicate through art. In this study group, I will share practical examples based on the Reggio Emilia philosophy, the resulting changes observed in children, and how "creative self-expression" can lead to the development of non-cognitive skills and initiative. Makiko Miyasaka (Assistant Professor, Smart-Aging Research Center) "The Potential of Art to Unlock Learning and Creativity" Many will recall the recent trend of turning to art and design for new ways of thinking, through approaches like Art Thinking, Design Thinking, and interactive art appreciation. But what is the true essence of this movement? We will explore this question and exchange ideas, drawing on our experiences teaching at an art university. Motoaki Sugiura (Professor, Institute of Development, Aging and Cancer / International Research Institute of Disaster Science) "The Commonality in the Brain Between Fine Art Design and Social Design" Many great politicians and scholars were also artists. The reason for this may lie in the common brain mechanisms between fine art design and social design. I will present a challenge to design a functional brain imaging study to verify this possibility.
