We were honored to welcome Dr. Andrew Lee (Associate Professor, Université Laval, Canada), a leading scholar in instructed second language acquisition, as our invited speaker. In his talk titled “Exploring Methodological Pluralism in Second Language Speech Research,” Dr. Lee shared cutting-edge perspectives on integrating diverse methodologies—ranging from biological and cognitive approaches to classroom-based designs—in the study of second language speech. The event provided a valuable opportunity for in-depth discussion on the mechanisms underlying L2 speech learning.

Bio:Andrew Lee (PhD, McGill University) is an Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics at Université Laval. His program of research investigates instructed second language acquisition, with particular focus on the effectiveness of various instructional conditions and the impact of individual differences, such as biological and cognitive factors, on second language acquisition. His research also explores research methodology, specifically researcher-practitioner collaboration and quantitative methods. His work is published in several refereed journals and has been presented at refereed scholarly meetings.
