Noise-Canceling Microphone (OptoACTIVE System)

OptoACTIVE System
During MRI imaging, the MRI machine's operational sounds are quite loud. To record the participant's voice clearly, noise cancellation is necessary.

Setup in the Control Room:

PC Connection
Connect the microphone using the labeled audio cable to the PC.
If using a laptop with a combined audio input/output jack, use a splitter for both audio recording and auditory stimulus.

PC Settings
When the microphone cable is connected, select “Line Input” on the PC.
If the PC has a dedicated microphone port, this selection screen will not appear.

OptoACTIVE Setup:

Turn on the power at the back of the box.
When the screen prompts “Touch screen to continue”, touch the screen.

Ensure the “FOMRI NOISE CANCELLER” button is turned ON.

Confirm the display says “Start DSP Mode”, then touch Start.

If the “Status” remains as “DSP Disconnected”, press the Hardware Reset button at the back.

Setup in the MRI Room:

Microphone Testing
Before guiding the participant, perform a test recording for each participant to ensure the microphone is working correctly.

Microphone Screen
Ensure the microphone screen (which faces or touches the participant's mouth) is changed for each participant.
The screen's storage location is currently being confirmed.

Microphone Placement
Attach the microphone to the head coil.

Adjust its position to be as close as possible to the participant’s mouth for better noise cancellation.

Recording Software

Begin recording using software such as before starting MRI scanning.

The main unit is located under the desk.

Power supplies and cables should generally not be disconnected or altered.
