Earphones and Control Room Speakers

Return to Summary
When providing auditory stimuli to the subject, using earphones for the subject while also emitting sound through the speakers in the control room helps the experiment run smoothly and allows for quick responses in case of any issues.

Connect the subject’s earphones and the control room speakers via an audio splitter from the PC, passing through their respective amplifiers.

Setting up in the Imaging Room
Before the experiment, confirm that sound is coming through and that the volume is at an appropriate level.

When handing the earphones to the subject, place the red one on the right ear and the blue one on the left ear.
Instruct them to crush the earphones once before putting them in.

Have the subject wear earmuffs over the earphones.
After putting on the earmuffs, make sure that subject can hear only a little sound.
If they are completely blocked, the instructions will not be transmitted, but if too much is heard, the noise of the MRI machine will affect auditory stimulation.

Setting up in the Control Room
Connect the amplifier for the speakers and the amplifier for the earphones to the power source.

The amplifiers are already connected to the respective speakers and earphones.
When cleaning up, leave the setup as it is.

Adjust the volume by turning the knobs on the amplifiers.
